Lately...

I've been feeling a little under the weather. But at least the reason is happy- I'm pregnant! Andrew and I just found out a couple of weeks ago. It was not planned but he is ecstatic and I'm equal parts excited and scared.  The babe is due in November and if anyone has any advice on how to make it through the first trimester I'd love to hear. Right now food makes me sick, but so does not eating. Fruit and smoothies have been saving my life. Any cooked food turns me off.  Anyway- this will not turn into a baby blog but if you'd like, please feel free to follow my "For The New Babe" board on my Pinterest.

  3. What wonderful news! I'm so sorry to hear you are feeling sick. Try Sprite and crackers? That always helps me when I'm nauseus.

  4. oh what? Congratulations!! That is so exciting.

I haven't got any little ones but my sister has four (!!) and always gets the WORST morning sickness for her whole pregnancy. She swears but lots of little meals all day - crackers first thing in the morning, lots of fruit, that sort of thing.

Peppermint tea always does it for me when I am nauseous. I find rooibos is good too if I don't have any peppermint.

  43. congratulations!!

fresh fruit is good for anyone :)

i make yummy drinks that you might like - just freeze some fruit (any fruit!) then put it in a blender with some fruit juice and any other fruit that needs using and whizz it! its like a smoothie minus the dairy factor but its a beautiful thick healthy glass of goodness.

passionfruit, banana, pineapple juice is good.

also peach with the skin on - makes a gorgeous colour.

    yum yum yum :)

and if you don't have a huge amount of fruit chopped and frozen you can add some ice or frozen juice cubes to keep the ice thing happening and use unfrozen fruit :)

and for normal juices combos try green apple, pineapple, lemon and ginger..........!!!!!!

  47. Protein. A lot of lasting-nausea-fighting bang for just a little force-my-way-through-eating. My cyclist husband has lots of protein bars and shakes around, and those really helped: 42 grams of protein in one Ultramet packet. Not my usual fare (I know, fake food), but that's as much as two chicken breasts...and much easier for me to eat then. Adding protein powder or part of the shake mix to one of your smoothies could help it last longer.

It's a weird pregnancy thing that nausea means "please eat!" rather than "don't!" (and is often reduced by eating). Maybe it's to get us used to the "pain is work" not "pain = make that danger stop now!" mind switch necessary to thrive in labor.

    Congratulations.
