Patchwork

I love patchwork quilts. It feels like each one has a story to tell. I love the way they look and I love that no two are the same. They are maybe the happiest of all blankets.

A couple of years ago I made one out of pieces of fabric Andrew had been collecting and bringing back to me from all over Africa. It's laying over a chair in our living room right now. We use it all the time. Once I get my sewing machine I'm going to make more. I'll let you know how they turn out but for now here are some of my favorites to inspire.

  2. ! Maliah! Remind me to show you the quilt Joyce made me for Christmas this year - it's a combination of fabrics of the Hatcher tri-pack clothes from childhood and a few other bits I selected while on a fabric hunt with Joyce at Hilltop (you know 'Hilltop' that sweet little eclectic neighborhood in the artsy district in VB?) ANYWAY this mother-made-with-love quilt is my most prized possession.

Also noteworthy - there is a new little women's clothing boutique at Hilltop called Esme that you will no doubt enjoy. Get excited. Zing! Can't wait to see you Wednesday. <3 <3 <3

  3. I've had "Make a patchwork quilt" on my to-do list for a long time--there is just something sweet and cozy and old-fashioned about them! Good luck on your project.

  4. I just started making a patchwork quilt! Alicia's (posie gets cozy) quilts are definitely my inspiration. I'm only about 1/5 of the way through with the quilt top, but what I'm most worried about is the actual quilting of the layers together!
