I've fallen in love with rings lately. This collection from Sticks and Stones is currently capturing my attention. They're based out of Portland- seems like goodness overflows there. I must go back.

Once again, people are creative and talented and blow my mind. And I'm glad there's a place like the internet to share them. Photography by Matthew Brandt.

Man, Sunday night already! I took an unplanned break from blogging last week and it was just what I needed. Thanks for bearing with the silence. But now I'm back and have some fun things to share with you- starting off with these great neck ties by Good Heavens, a local South African company. Andrew just bought the bottom, left, grey one and it is goooooood looking! If you need a gift for you guy this could be just the ticket...
Yes, I realize it's April. But ever since the whole pregnancy thing happened I've been a bit off my game. So here is March's cake. After February's disaster I decided to do a little research on cake decorating, specifically tips on frosting cakes, and I'm pretty pleased with the result. I used fresh flowers from my local flower market to decorate the top- wild tulips, dahlias and not sure what the last one is? I used this cake recipe but wished it was a bit lighter and fluffier- the taste was nice though. And while the icing went on nicely and covered well, I did not like the taste so I won't bother sharing that recipe. I'm in need of a fail proof cake recipe- let me know if you've got one- preferably chocolate or yellow cake. Also a good icing recipe- something that tastes good and covers well. I know a few of you have also started baking a cake a month- I'd love to hear how it's going! And I promise to share April's cake in April.

I saw this Smythe Les Vestes look on Style Revue and thought it made a perfect Fall outfit for those of us in the southern hemisphere. Below is how I'd wear it. If you haven't yet checked out Style Revue make sure you do because it's loaded with great fashion inspiration and fun finds. It's a new favorite.

So I thought I'd share some pictures from the Kitchen Tea (Bridal Shower) that I threw for my friend Jess just before she got married. Jess loves nature so I decided to go with a picnic theme and have it in Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens. My friend Jen co-hosted with me and we spread out picnic blankets for the guests. On each blanket was a basket filled with fresh bread, hummus, fruit and cous cous salad. Iced tea and brownies were also served. I decorated an old wheelbarrow and used that to hold all of the presents (unfortunately I didn't get a good picture of it). And my friend Amy greeted each guest at the entrance with some starched flags and led them to the picnic site. It was a beautiful day. Hope to share some of her wedding pictures soon!
