It's the last day of June and that means I'm finally getting around to posting June's cake! This time I went for a carrot cake with cream cheese frosting per my friend Amy's suggestion and it turned out nicely. I also made my debut in the world of piping. It was fun so I think I'm going to go for it again. You can find the recipe here.
The other day my friend, Theresa and I, went to a new cafe in town for coffee and ended up getting smoothies. She got chocolate banana and I got the green smoothie. It's called Skinny Legs & All and it's lovely- run by twin sisters with great taste (the food is yummm) and style. I highly recommend it. It's over on Loop and Hout for the Cape Town readers.
My friend, Amy and I, recently started a little business together (which I'll probably tell you more about later) and that has got me thinking about setting up shop. For now we're each working out of our homes, which I don't mind at all (working from my bed suits me just fine) but here are some work spaces that have got my mind spinning.
I've got a weakness for embroidery. My sister is really good at it, I'm mediocre at it, but Sara Barnes is FANTASTIC at it. If I were an artist, I'd want to create works like Sara's...
This week Stella McCartney threw a garden party in New York City to launch her Resort 2012 Collection. Models dressed in Stella's collection played croquet and ping pong on the lawn, blew bubbles and hoola-hooped while the guests mingled. Fun idea. Clever lady. How amazing is that final white dress- such beautiful lines.
Often times I love the look books of the smaller, lesser known labels more than the big brand names and designers. This one from Adie + George is the perfect example. I can't get over the light in these photos.
If you live in Cape Town you've probably already been to The Power and The Glory. A new(ish) spot that is one of my favorites and seems to be a lot of other people's favorite too. Besides offering great coffee and food, they got the interiors just right. Take a look.
On Monday we celebrated our two year wedding anniversary. We went for a walk in the forrest, saw a rainbow, ate tapas and finished off the night with ice cream and t.v. in bed. It was perfect.
Neighbour, is a men's clothing store in Vancouver, but after looking at their online shop I just couldn't help but think "I'd wear all of that." Andrew is out of town for a bit and you better believe I'm raiding his closet, pulling out his shirts and sweaters and wearing them all over town. Sometimes there's nothing better than your boyfriend or husbands sweater.
Emile wrote to tell me about her new bicycle company, Starling & Hero (great name) and I instantly fell in love with it. They take old bicycles and restore them beautifully- giving each its own unique flavor. They also have fun bike accesories for sale. The bikes are exclusively available in South Africa- good news for South Africans, bad news for everybody else. Check out their website here.
Welcome to size too small. A blog about all the pretty things that catch my eye; everything from art and design, to fashion, fun finds and photography.
