I was sick all weekend and spent my time in bed drinking tea, wandering around the internet and watching episodes of 30 Rock. The upside of being sick- not feeling guilty about staying in bed for two days straight. It was during this time that I came across A Continuous Report. It's filled with the best shopping, restaurant, and hotel finds from some of the worlds most stylish cities (Amsterdam, New York, London, Paris etc.) Below are three restaurants that all happen to be in New York and are now most certainly on my "To Do Next Time I'm in New York list". Joseph Leonard, Aria, and Bread. Anybody ever been?
Saw this on all the mountains and couldn't resist posting. I love it and now I love Garcia & Louise too.
I guess I've got a thing for oxfords as evident here and here. But I just can't help myself. These beauties are from Osborn Handcrafted based out of Brooklyn.
Happy Thanksgiving!

This is my third Thanksgiving outside of the States (second in South Africa) and Andrew and I have taken the day off to celebrate along with everyone back home. So right now I'm curled up in bed listening to Vince Guaraldi and drinking tea. Later we'll be watching a Charlie Brown Thanksgiving and then even later on we've got friends coming over and I'm making my very first Thanksgiving dinner! I'm missing the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade though- but these vintage pictures of it are pretty amazing. Happy Thanksgiving!

Some of my favorite looks from WHIT's new Spring 2011 Collection. I'd have that green dress made in a bunch of different colors and wear it every day.

If Joan of Arc were still alive, she'd be wearing Balenciaga's Spring 2008 Collection.
Joan of Arc's life was remarkable. Born a peasant girl in France, she ended up leading the French army to several victories during the Hundred Years War. And she did all of this when she was still a teenager. Balenciaga's Spring 2008 collection gives off a very strong warrior feel, with it's structured dresses (reminiscent of armor) and gladiator inspired lace up boots. I think we need more girls in the world like Joan. To see the rest of the "Now and Then Gang" go here.

Still-life polaroids taken by Andy Warhol between 1977 and 1983. I'm in love. To see more go here.

Here's what I love about weddings- I love that if it's done well the personality of the bride and groom come through. That's definitely what happened with Ray and Phil. To see more of this lovely affair go here!

I went to the beach both Saturday and Sunday this weekend and it was pretty glorious. Yes- that's a picture I took of the beach- amazing right? I know last week I was complaining about missing Fall and then I went and embraced Summer's return. What can I say, I'm a traitor. But I still miss Fall- just maybe on the week days only.
So I have to say that I've been missing Fall a lot this year. In my mind November means cozy sweaters, and chilly wether, warm drinks and Thanksgiving. But November in South Africa means summer is coming. I blame my discontent on the internet- reading everyone else's blog posts about the Fall weather and all the cozy things you're doing. So this is my Ode to Fall.
Fall is warm cozy sweaters, mittens, pumpkin pie, boots, kids wearing backpacks, hot drinks, the changing colors of the leaves, warm blankets and the music of Vince Guaraldi (composer of the music for Charlie Brown)

I actually can't even handle J.Crew right now. They brought Confetti System into their already insane styling of the December catalog. I want to live in this catalog. And have you been to their website lately? So many more beautiful pictures...run, don't walk.
Have you guys been over to Where the Lovely Things Are for Mallory's book week extravaganza yet? Every post has something to do with books and she's also included some of her favorite bloggers favorite books- everything from coffee table to fiction. I've been loving reading everyone's choices. I'm making a list.

Frances May is one of my favorite shops to visit online. I wish I had known about it a few years ago when I was visiting Portland and while I'm wishing for things I wish there was one here in Cape Town. Here are two of my favorite looks from their shop- baggy and cozy just like I like it. How cozy would that jacket be for winter?
