October's Cake

October's cake is a spice cake with cream cheese frosting; decorated with flowers from my local market. The cake is a tiny bit lopsided and the smoothness of the frosting was only emphasising that, so I started swirling it all around and it hid it pretty well. That's it! Happy last day of October friends!

Maybe it's because I'm so close to having this baby (nesting), but I've been feeling the urge to redecorate. Here's what's been catching my eye lately...

I'm not a hat person- but I wish I were. Also, the lovely Roberta Jane from Camp Comfort (one of my favorite blogs, and probably yours too) asked me to participate in her "How I'd Wear It" series. Yesterday Elise from Pennyweight shared her look and I'm up today. Make sure you check it out.

I spied this video on emmajane nation and thought it was fun. So now, for your viewing pleasure... A Professional Display of No Handed Bike Moves. (By the way I'm horrible at riding my bike "no handed" as it were. Never been good at it- always wanted to be.)

The Woodstock Foundry + Selah!

Thursday, October 13, 2011

I thought I'd share one of the fun projects I've been working on for the last several months. gather. is working on curating a new / old space (it's a historic building, currently being renovated) here in Cape Town. It's called The Woodstock Foundry and it will be a mix of retail and creative offices and studios. Best of all- Andrew is opening a retail space there! Below is the mood board I created for his shop- Selah.

So besides finding the right mix of creatives to go into the space, I've been busily working on the interiors for Andrews shop. It's such a fun project! We still have a few spaces left- so if you live in the Cape Town area and are looking for a studio, office or retail space please email me! Can't wait to show you guys the final product!

I'm a sucker for cards. I used to make a lot of my own but I'm afraid I'm running low on time and patience these days. These guys by Small Adventure are so adorable, I'd send one to each of you if I could.

September's Cake

Tuesday, October 4, 2011

I think international travel counts as a good excuse for the lateness of September's cake. We made it back to Cape Town and now the countdown begins before the little sir arrives. As for September's cake- it's a little untraditional. I made a "scone cake", (mostly because that's what I had ingredients for) drizzled some home made chocolate sauce on top, added some strawberries and mint and I was all done. I'll post the chocolate sauce recipe in the comments section later- it's amazing.

Leah Duncan's 2012 calendar print is out and I'm definitely going to snap it up for the new year. I bought this print from her but in calendar form for 2011 and have loved it. Do yourself a favor and check out the rest of her etsy shop- it's got some fun new things.
