Also I think I've found my niche- mini cakes. You can't tell from the picture very well but this cake is mini- made from two six inch rounds. Definitely my new favorite thing- cake in miniature form!
A little change of scenery...we're still in the States visiting family so August's cake was made and photographed at my parents house. It's my mom's banana cake recipe with cream cheese frosting. Yum. I'll post the recipe in the comments section later!

If Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong were still alive, they'd be wearing Steven Alan's Spring 2011 Collection.
When I came across this picture of Ella and Louis I knew a "Now and Then" post had to be done and Steven Alan immediately came to mind. I love how casual and summery their looks are here and I love getting a behind the scenes peek at the king and queen of jazz at work together- amazing.

Yep... it's a boy! I'm seven months tomorrow which means it's getting close! I actually can't believe how soon he will be here. Hope everyone had a relaxing weekend- this picture was part of my weekend, taken at the beach in front of my parents house. Back tomorrow with more fun things!
Yikes- is it Thursday already! I've been spending a lot of time relaxing with my family and not a lot of time online. But I did run across these great tree prints by Margaret Kilgallen. I would love to have this set framed in my house.

We leave Cape Town and winter today for the U.S.A. and summer. I use the word winter loosely as today it's about 70 degrees out (21c.) I'll see you all on the other side!

Holy smokes I love the recent collaboration between photographer Eefje De Coninck and Kathryn Blackmore of Vamoose. So inspiring, it's got my brain buzzing with ideas. Vamoose jewelry has been a long time favorite of mine- so happy to know about Eefje and her beautiful work. Thanks to Margot for the heads up!
