There are a lot of vintage clothing shops on Etsy but let me tell you- na nin vintage is by far one of my favorites! The lovely Kate from Richmond, Virginia runs it and she has quite an eye. I actually know Kate in real life and her style is the kind of style that you always dream about achieving but can never quite get there. Luckily for me (and you) she's opened na nin vintage- fail proof shopping, hand picked and styled with care. Check it out.

Summer Camp

Monday, June 28, 2010

My all time favorite movie is The Parent Trap- the original version from the 60's with Haley Mills. It popped into my head this past weekend and got me thinking about summer camp. I never went to summer camp growing up- just a week vibe here and there but never the real deal. So below is my version of summer camp. If I could live in a tepee and wear a headband with a feather, drive around in an old VW camper, wear my bathing suit all day long and explore coastlines and tidal pools I'd be a happy girl.

Road Trip

Check out these pictures from two sisters who were inspired to take a road trip across America. Andrew and I drove across Spain once and it was incredible, but I've never done the U.S. and the thing is- America is so road trip worthy. You can check out the rest of their pictures here.

I love these hand painted photos by Lizzy Janssen. It's actually such a good DIY project. Next time I'm at Milnerton Market I'm going to look for some old photos and try it out myself. You can purchase these from her Etsy shop.

New Bike!

Wednesday, June 23, 2010

Yesterday I came home to two new bicycles sitting in my house. Turns out they were a gift from our friend Paul- what?/! Ever since we moved to Cape Town we've been meaning to get bikes but other things like a bed and a car and a refrigerator kept getting in the way. But now we have them- and just in time for Paper Girl on Saturday! Now I just need a basket- I found this one on Amazon. I've also had my eye on this denim romper and these shoes- both perfect for a bike ride.

Liberty of London + A Bathing Suit + Me In It

I want a bathing suit made out of this Liberty of London print. I've had my mind set on a floral, two piece number for a while now- but haven't seen any. This print would be perfect. I also kind of like the idea of making curtains out of it. You can buy it here.

At Home With Jen

Last week I had tea with my friend Jen. She and her husband Luke have the most wonderful home- every corner is filled with so many treasures. We live across the street from each other so I'm in her home quite often, but every time I go I find something new to love. Take a look.

Dear Rae Jewelry

I've been wanting to do a post on my friend Karin's jewelry line for a while now. It's called Dear Rae and it is beautiful! Here are some of my favorites but she's got so much more to choose from- there is definitely something for everyone. She's located here in Cape Town and her line is carried in a few stores around town. She also makes custom jewelry and is so much fun to work with. To see more visit her website here.

Lauren Moffatt Fall 2010

Thursday, June 17, 2010

I had just finished posting when I wandered over to Seesaw and was stopped dead in my tracks by Lauren Moffatt's Fall 2010 Collection. It is incredible! I love every single piece. I'm not going to be able to think about anything for the rest of the day except how to get my hands on it. I have a feeling this is going to be everywhere today. Also can I just say how much I love Seesaw. I can't believe they are not listed under my favorite places- that changes now.

A Rowan Tree Picnic

Polly designed this picnic set (including a hammock!) which I'm in love with. She's a textile design student and I can't wait to see more of her work in the future. You can find her at her blog- A Rowan Tree, it is lovely.

Anorak Sleeping Bags

I love these sleeping bags from Anorak. I can't decide if i love the sailboats or the horses more. Reminds me of slumber parties from when I was a kid. My parents had really rad L.L. Bean sleeping bags from the 70's which I love now but as a kid I was always jealous of the other girls with their Disney sleeping bags. Anorak has lots more designs and items to choose from- picnic blankets, tablecloths, tote bags, pillows and more. So glad to have found them.

Have You Met Yokoo Yet?

Tuesday, June 15, 2010

Yokoo has become quite famous for her clothing line as well as her personal style. Her line includes bags, scarves, gym wear and accessories. I have to say I'm in love with her stuff, especially her bags and scarves. Almost everything is knit and so cozy looking.

Photobucket

You know how there are some people that just look like they are "somebody"- she's one of them. Check out her Etsy shop here. You can also see her flickr stream here (which she kind of treats like a blog and of course I love that, but thankfully she's also got a blog in the works!)

Tonight we are going to our first World Cup match in the stadium here in Cape Town. Italy vs. Paraguay! We'll be screaming our faces off for Italy- there's still ten hours before the game starts but already I'm so excited. Look how beautiful my city looks and how amazing is that stadium?

Vain & Vapid

This dress is just about perfect. I think I'd want it in this longer version and a short version as well. You can find it in Vain & Vapid's online store. I've been reading Vain & Vapid's blog for a little while now but didn't realize she had a clothing line too- great news. And her other looks are just as lovely.

Thank You!

I just wanted to say THANK YOU to everyone who was involved in Andrew's anniversary surprise. If you haven't stumbled across it yet you can go here, here, here or here. It was a great day. We spent it relaxing at the Mount Nelson Spa and then came home, made dinner together and climbed in bed with Michael Cera to watch Paper Heart and eat ice cream. Soooo thank you to Auburn & Ivory, Hooray, Squid, Aviary Studio, The City Sage, {Wit + Delight}, A Thing For, Frolic! and My Scandinavian Retreat for being part of our first anniversary. Truly amazing.

The Graceful Lady- Anna Allen

I can't remember how I found Anna Allen's blog- wildflowers::pretty, but oh man, I'm so glad I did. She is like the modern day Laura Ingles Wilder. She lives in Iowa and is always posting lovely images like the one's you'll find below of her simple, lovely, and refreshing fashion sense, different craft projects- mostly sewing, and her photography as well.

Photobucket

Another thing I love about her- she's in love with all things 19th Century and participates in Living History events- wear's the big bell skirts from Abraham Lincoln's day, shoots rifles, sleeps under the stars and lives off the land.

Photobucket

She's also got her own clothing line. Amazing. Check out her online shops here and here.

If You Like It Then You Better Put A Ring On It

Friday, June 4, 2010

Here are a few more pictures from the wedding that weren't shared on Style Me Pretty. I surprised Andrew and all of the guest's with a gospel choir at the reception. It was definitely a highlight. And you can see in the bottom left corner our invitation- letterpressed by the lovely Rachel of Pistachio Press. (that image is from her site) That's it! We celebrate our anniversary on Sunday with a trip to the spa at the Mount Nelson Hotel here in Cape Town. Andrew had been secretly putting money aside for the past several months to surprise me with the spa package. The best part- it's called "Best Friends Forever Spa Package." Love it.
